Residence Hall Phone Service

On-campus basic telephone service was discontinued at the end of the spring 2007 semester. If you would like to continue using the land-line phone service provided by the University, please download the Basic Phone Service form (PDF), complete and return it to Cheryl Sweat at campus box RAR 229. Basic phone service can be activated for $50 and requires a $25 monthly charge to make local phone calls. Long distance service is not included and requires a personal calling card which can be purchased at any major retail store.

Communication with your family, friends and the University is important thus we recommend you either sign up for on-campus phone service or a wireless phone plan using a cell phone carrier of your choice.

Do I get to select my own phone company?
No; you will contract with the phone service provider used by USF.

Can I make long distance phone calls using my on-campus service provider?
No; long distance calls are not included in the $25 monthly fee. To place a long distance call you must use a calling card.

How much does on-campus phone service cost?

How will I be billed?
Monthly service charges will appear on your OASIS bill.

Can I dial emergency services on an inactive phone line?
No; inactive phone lines will not have a dial tone. There are active phone lines throughout each residence hall including Resident Assistant rooms, public lounges and courtesy phones.
